Who won the presidential debate? Really, it depends who you ask. So, we won't ask you to post that here. Body language and non-verbal communication often have an outsized impact on our political perceptions. After watching a portion of the first of three debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in 2016, what did we learn about the body language and nonverbal communication of the two candidates? What perceptions can we, as voters, take away from this clip concerning both candidates?

In a debate, people would sometimes only listen to what the candidate would have to say. especially in the days when there was only radios. Now we pay attention to their gestures and nonverbal ways.Clinton always smiled when there was about to a "roast" on her. That had my attention for some reason. Trump on the other hand raised his right hand when he wanted to make emphasis on something. Now that debates are live on TV, candidates have to make a good impression when they are speaking and when they are not.

What I learned in from the debate is that body language is a huge thing. The way you presents yourself can change the minds of people. Nonverbal communications was a huge this as well. Trumps used a lot of facial expressions during the debate. From this clip I believe candidates should try to look better while speaking, not only by their words but by their body language and facial expressions as well.

Marcos it's true, televised debates have changed the entire game field. Before debates were televised nationally candidates only had to worry about the intonation of their voice but now they have to keep their actions in mind. I think I like it better this way because it allows us to get to know the candidates better.

Throughout the entire debate both candidates used various hand gestures and face gestures to show their non-verbal ways of communicating. Many of us use non-verbal communication without even realizing it. This with them is not the case. They know there were thousands of people watching, and with Hillary's smile and Trumps hand gestures they were making non-verbal communication the way they wanted to, knowing the crowd was watching. As voters we can take away a lot from the body language and non-verbal communication of each candidate but it is up to each independent voter on how they perceive these things and how it may or may not effect their vote.

Nonverbal communication, hand motions and facial expressions, have a big influence on the way a person perceives someone else. Because of this I agree with you. Everyone perceives things differently therefore everyone will have a different opinion on who they're ultimately voting for.

throughout the entire video you can tell that Hillary is a experienced debater and it shows by how calm and poised she acts. trump on the other hand is just a business man and hasn't had to debate before and his actions reflect that. as the stand point of a voter it bring some concern about the candidates since they both had their own blunders.

Televised presidential debates have been around for a while now. They have a lot of influence in a campaign because the people can gather and make assumptions of the candidates from their movements and expressions. For example, Donald Trump always had a smug look on his face and Hillary Clinton always smiled when Mr. Trump was speaking. Both candidates used hand motions in order to emphasize certain points. Overall this form of nonverbal communication can help voters decide on who to vote for because the candidates demonstrated their confidence and amiability through their actions.

The debate for people could be biased by on their political views are, but both candidates both show they can sort of show their side of they know how to talk to people about what they believe. Mrs.Clinton shows that she can keep composure under pressure due to the fact she has been in the government position for quite sometime. Mr.Trump does show his business side which he knows how to talk to people about making deals and "smooth talks" people which can be convincing. Overall, both candidates both showed great communication skills but the debate seemed scattered and all over the place which took my attention away from the actual debate.

What I noticed during this debate between Clinton and Trump is that they both had good arguments but how they brought them across to the public is what caught people's attention the most. The public pays a lot of attention to gestures and how each candidate reacts during the debate. While helped Hillary very much was the fact that she kept it cool and calm, unlike Trump. I think these details are the ones that make a difference, since the nonverbal ways are very important when speaking in public.

Most people have already decided who they are gonna vote for. The others who are undecided would probably watch the debate and pick they person who seems more confident and seems to know what they are talking about. The gestures that both of them use are there to help them look more professional and to please the voters who are undecided. Mostly because everyone wants to vote for someone who they think is smarter. In this case neither is very smart but both know how to use there body language. Trump uses more demanding body language while Hillary use more passive body language. Both work for their personality but neither is very qualified to have the responsibility of leading America in a positive direction.

Both candidates use non-verbal communication throughout the debate. They both seem to have disrespectful body language towards the other person because they don't like each other. Donald Trump used hand gestures a lot to accentuate the things that he felt strongly about. Hilary Clinton smiled every time she was interrupted by Trump to show that she was somewhat annoyed, but she kept her poise and didn't make any disgusted faces, or verbally call him out on it. Her side of the debate was very different from Trump's side. They have different ways of communicating, and you can tell that by looking at their expressions, and listening to the verbal aspect of the debate.

Each candidate had a different way of presenting themselves. Trump used a lot of hand gestures to help emphasize certain points he felt strongly about. Hilary used more facial expressions to hide her embarrassment when she didn't know what to say, and also to hide her disgust when she would get interrupted. Each candidate continuously uses non verbal communication throughout the debate, even more so I think because they knew that had a lot of viewers.

I noticeted that hillary was more accustomed to punlic speaking and he maintained a good voice and used her hand motions to attempt to get her point across. Trump, on the other hand, used a lot of unnecessary hand gestures. To be quite frank he was just all over the place. He did however maintain his temper, which is a surprising thing after seeing all of his earlier, unnecessary tantrums. They both hit on some key points and important topics. I believe that if they focused more on the questions instead of baiting each other, that they would have been more successful.
