After watching the video, I can say that I rely too much on my PowerPoint and visual presentation. I need to work a bit harder on making sure I'm prepared for the presentation with note cards. If I can remember this I believe that I would make a descent presenter. Also, sometimes when I'm nervous I will use too many hand gestures as well as play with my hair. That's something I know I do and that I need to work hard on. But like I said, besides that I'm doing pretty good with my presentations.

I agree with you I always have to do when I'm nervous during a presentation I would rock back and forth. But I believe you can get rid of that being nervous and speak without notecards. You will be a champ if you can do that.

I get extremely nervous also but instead of having a lot of hand movements I sway A LOT! I also not as prepared with my note cards as I should be.

Kaitlyn, I understand the feeling, we use Powerpoint's to use as a crutch when we don't have anything else in our knowledge to use.

I too used to rely a lot on my PowerPoint when giving a presentation. This class, however, is teaching me to be prepared and to not rely on my PowerPoint for my presentation and I can see that it's also doing the same for you.

Kaitlyn, I agree with you that we need to be prepared! Also, being prepared with notecards will help you not be so dependent on the PowerPoint because thee notecards will still have your presentation on them even if you don't have the right slide behind you.

I'm the same way with being too dependent on my power point. I think it's just because I don't memorize my speech well enough.

I think that the best way for you to solve your problem of looking at your PowerPoint too much is to study and practice saying the information you have. Having note cards can help a lot because you aren't just reading off of the board, which can make the audience feel distracted or disconnected from your presentation.

I can agree to the ideas of being more prepared. Because so far I have not been at all. I tend to sway and tap my feet as a nervous gesture. That's what i think i would have to work on to make my presentations as good as they should be.

I really think when I speak I don't make a long conversation. It would be short like I would barely speak I think my problem is I really don't speaking much with other people. Also what could help is being prepare for speeches and practice with family and friends.

Sometimes making your speech super quick isn't always a good thing. You may miss a topic. or you maynot cover it enough so you may have people lose interest because you didn't give enough details.

After watching this video I realize that I have a lot of things to work but a couple of things that sticks out are preparing and going over my presentation the night before, this will help me become more organized and more aware of what I'm presenting. I also need ways to grab the audience and keep them focused on what I'm saying and make sure they know what I'm trying to tell them.To over come this is just to practice and go over everything ahead of time.

After watching the video I know for sure that I use a lot of filler words and I move my feet a lot which takes peoples attention from my speech that I would be presenting. To fix this I feel like I should plant my feet in one spot and stay their. This will be hard to do at first, but eventually it'll stick. Also, to fix the filler words increase my vocabulary to ensure I don't use those filler words as often while at the same time making my presentation that much better with good vocabulary.

There are many key factors that come into play order to become a great public speaker. For example, some people are natural born public speakers, others on the other hand aren't. As I was watching this video I realized that I make many mistakes while speaking publicly. I tend to use filler words like "so" very often and I start moving from side to side when I get nervous. In order, to overcome those mistakes, I could expand my vocabulary and perhaps be a little more confident in myself. This would prevent me from getting nervous.

I think one of my major mistakes is that when I am speaking I don't expand on the bullet points on the PowerPoint. I definitely am the type of person that will just read all the points on the PowerPoint and be done. I really need to work on it because one I'm very dependent that the PowerPoint has the right points on it and two the points on the PowerPoint isn't enough information for the presentation.

While watching the video, I also realized I have a couple of things to work on. I've always said that being prepared by knowing what you are going to talk about and doing a little more research on the presentation is the most important. Dominating the topic is extremely helpful. One of the things I really need to work on is getting to know my audience, that way I can connect with them and catch their attention a little bit easier. By doing this I will certainly be more confident and get less nervous.

I am sure that I do have problems with I do give a speech. The firsy one being moving around and getting the audience all tangled up. I am sure I can fix that but it will take some time. The same goes when I bent my note cards. Its mostly because I don't know what to say, is I should have said this or should I not. I still get nervous but I know I can fix that by making the audience laugh; become a little bit more comfortable.

I feel like I don't have very many mistakes but if I were to point out one, it would be that I am dependent on my note cards a lot. Also, I think I need to explain more when talking about a topic on my bullet point, instead of just saying it and going on to the next thing. I can overcome these things by possibly practicing in my own time by myself and looking over the presentation the day before presenting.

One mistake I know I make is relying on how my PowerPoint looks. I try to make it entertaining looking but I may not focus enough on the details. another one that I make is that I don't really know my audience. so I try to make jokes and be funny to see how they react abd go from there.

I believe a habit I have that I need to work on is my over-dependence on visuals, I feel like I need to have a physical model or representation to look at and speak about in order to get my point across. I think I can improve upon this mistake by just practicing speeches more. Each time I practice I try to use visuals less and less until the point where my need for them is eliminated.

One of the things that I need to work on is not expanding on key points. I know what I want to say before I give my speech, but I forget to say a lot of things that I had originally planned to. I could work on this by not trying to rush things while giving a presentation, and being confident and comfortable with what I'm saying. I am also very dependent on visuals. When giving presentations, I feel as though I need to be experiencing the same thing that my audience is, and I need to work on that. I need to study my notecards more, and not just read off of the powerpoint.

On my last speech or presentation i was not prepared at all, i wasn't exactly nervous either because i'm used to doing things on whem, what really stuck to me though is being told i need to be more serious and not to take everything as a joke. I could agree, and say that's an aspect i need to work on, along with being better prepared while im presenting such as, well, having note cards to organize what i am going to say or talk about. The video talks about the mistakes that you can make while giving a speech and i think it's important to take these into a count when you are trying to get a point across especially if you're in a debate.

Some of my public speaking mistakes are relying on the power point and not making bullet points short enough, and not being prepared. Most of the time i am prepared to present a power point but sometimes i have slacked off so my power point wasn't ready. I really like to look at the power point one reason is because it gives me a reason not to look at the audience.
