Watch the video below. After watching the video, please tell me why are communication skills important? What did we learn about the communication process and the roles of sender/receiver? What could have been done differently by Abbot and/or Costello to ensure the message was communicated clearly?

Communication skills are important because if you don't communicate properly then everyone will be confused. if the sender doesn't send a clear message then the receiver may not understand whats being said. Abbot could've slowed down and tried to explain it better. or maybe wrote it out.

There was a lot of miscommunication between Abbott and Costello. Neither one of them even picked up on the fact that there was miscommunication. At times, what they were saying seemed to make sense, but it only truly made sense to one of them at a time. The shorter man didn't pick up on the fact that the taller man was giving him all of the information he needed, because he simply did not understand, He thought that the taller man was confused because of the way that he was wording things. This video showed miscommunication between two people, but there are so many communication barriers in our every day lives. The most prominent communication barrier is through language. This video was a great example of how easy it can be to have miscommunication between people. In order to make his message clearer, the taller man could have drawn it out and labeled the picture, because maybe it would be easier to understand if it was visualized.

Communication is very important. There are many ways to communicate of course. Its important because it is a way to see if we can achieve a success or not. We need to communicate fluently in order for the person to understand each and every single one of us. A think that could have helped them was actually saying a full name. Maybe to say "The guy on first base is name is ..." Thinking in a way that could actually fill in the gaps of people not understanding.

Communication skills are very important that all who are involved in the conversation can understand clearly what the conversation is about. I learned that in order for the receiver to respond the sender has to clearly state what he or she is trying to convey. They both could've talked slower and Costello could explained it better.

Without communication we'd all be lost. In the video it shows that not only do we need it, but we also need to communicate properly. Abbot and Costello were communicating; however they still didn't understand each other. The taller fella should've explained himself better and the shorter one should've made a better effort to understand and not get heated up so quick. Also, one could've stopped talking while the other spoke. Lots of things could've been done better while they communicated. Not only is communication important but the way we communicate is too.

Communication skills are very important due to you need to understand the context of the conversation you're involved in . Also they're important because if you can't effectively talk to someone then you can't get your point across clearly and then there is confusion. The thing I learned based on the communication process is that in order to communicate effectivley you need background if the situation that may be at hand. Also, you need to get key names or events in your head to where you can reflect on them later. The role of sender and reciever is that one person tells you something and then, you recieve that information and use a symbolic event or reasoning to help back what you will say to the sender of the original message. A couple things I would have done differently was that when I was telling Costello about who was on my team I would have said "Hey the guy I have playing as my first based is named who". Also I would have probably had a roster availiable, even though I know this was a spontaneous event, just to back up what I was telling Costello. Now if I was Abbot listening to Costello I would have not been so demeaning in a way and listened a little better to what Abbot had to say. Costello was jumping at the gun thinking Abbot was using just everyday language that Costello was used to hearing when he should have been more attentive to what Abbot had to say. Altogether, to communicate better you have to be on the same page as the person you're trying to communicate to. If you or the reciever are not on level, then the message you are trying to convey would be pointless.

Communication skills are very important because some people misunderstand what you say and you need to have the skill to speak to people otherwise everyone would be confused. In this video, we learned that the communication process was a whole misunderstanding between the two. They went back and forth because of the taller man saying "who's on first" and "what's on second". Even though that's what their names were, the shorter man didn't understand. The shorter man thought the taller man was asking him the questions when the taller man was actually answering the shorter man's questions. The roles of the sender/receiver were the shorter man was asking the questions and the taller man was answering the questions. I think that if the taller man had told the shorter man "who's" and "what's" were their names then he would have understood. Since he did not, both of them went back and forth and it was a whole miscommunication throughout the video. Although, there are other things the taller man could've done differently. The taller man could've used the person's first name or have said the sentence in another way.

Communication skills are extremely important and we clearly saw an example a few minutes ago. They say being able to communicate effectively is the most important of all life skills. Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place to another, or as the actual definition says it means to interact through symbols...whether it si verbal, written (using printed or digital media) visual (using images) or non-verbal(using body language and gestures). The video demonstrated how communication can change a whole scenario, and why it is so important.

Communication skills are very important in the real world. Without comunnication none of us would know what's going on. Many of us take communication for granted because we don't realize that without it our world wouldn't function correctly. Lack of communication skills can be found in this video. Neither of the men understood each other because their poor communication skills. They weren't clear with each other and they didn't define the terms clearly so they were confused the entire time. One thing that could've made the interaction between the two men more clear and easier for each to understand would be if they both told each other they were answering the others questions. By doing this the entire interaction would've gone a completely different way.

Communication skills are very important because they determine the meaning that someone decodes in their brain, based off of the words or the way you said the words to them. Without effective communication skills, communication can not occur as it is supposed to. I learned that it is the sender's role to ensure that the receiver is learning and decoding information the exact way that the sender intends them to. In order for Abbott and Costello to have exchanged the correct meaning through symbolic interaction, he could have told him, "the name of the first baseman is, Who, his name is spelled W-h-o" and so on and so forth. They could have also not been talking as fast as they were, and the correct communication could have occurred.
