About Mr. D
Mr. D has been working in and with theatrical productions all over East Texas for 30+ years. Originally from Troup, he is a director, actor, playwright, visual artist and voice coach who works to advance human understanding and compassion through the infinitely expressive interplay of image, action, and word. Mr. D is a generator of ideas and projects. He has a lively imagination, an appetite for hard questions, and a robust curiosity about, and respect for, the world beyond his own cultural borders. Mr. D’s acting and directing resume is quite long, but a few of his favorite shows to work on have been Flowers for Algernon; One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Noises Off; Little Shop of Horrors; West Side Story and Show Boat; to name a few. Additionally, he has directed and acted in multiple short films. Mr. D has won numerous awards directing students in UIL One Act Play competition; earning advancement to Regional UIL One Act Play competition in 2012, 2021 & 2022. Off stage, he enjoys the opportunity to adjudicate and coach high school and collegiate students in speech and theatrical academic competition; assisting them in earning several awards and scholarships for their efforts. Mr. D enjoys cooking, playing saxophone, writing, vacationing and spending time with family. His greatest achievement, though, is his marriage to his wife, Nicole, of 26 years and his two amazing kids, Alyx and Chandler.
